The Book

From USA with Love
Author Offers Old World Recipes from Russia to New World.
With modern life seemingly so hectic, American families have abandoned good home cooking in favor of quick meals and fast food, and their health and growing waistlines exhibit the results of this decision. Olga Victoria Whittington helps families get back on track with her new book, From USA with Love: Russian Impressions & Healthy Cooking.
Born in the former Soviet Union, Whittington spent most of her life in Russia before coming to America two years ago to marry her current husband. With her, she brought a slew of recipes and impressions from a time when things were simpler. From USA with Love collects her family recipes in addition to interesting thoughts about life under Communist rule and her new one in America. Whittington begins the book with her personal history growing up along the shore of the Black Sea. Then she opens her recipe box to share good home cooking with every family.
In the hopes of promoting healthier lifestyles and nourishing, home–cooked food, Whittington offers mouth–watering dishes and insightful cooking tips to make life easier in the kitchen. She begins with salads and soups, including how to make bouillon from scratch. She moves on to the main dish with delectable fare from Russian meatballs and beef stroganoff to stuffed eggs with fish. Of course, she does not forget about the sweet tooth and includes tasty treats, such as Russian pancakes, apple cake and cottage cheese cookies. In her epilogue, she provides the diet she adheres to when she wants to shed pounds. Throughout, she offers anecdotes and alternative
information that makes these old recipes seem more like a grand affair rather just ways to prepare hearty, healthy food.
For anyone looking for a change from the thrown together meals to which many Americans have grown accustomed, From USA with Love opens a recipe box from the old world to bring healthy eating back to the modern Americans table.
Raised in Russia, Whittington graduated from Moscow State University and worked for 30 years as an engineer and marketing director, respectively. After her Russian husband passed away, she met an American man and moved to the United States. She now lives in Houston. From USA with Love is her first book.
